Principles and guidelines for Green Building construction provide ecofriendly construction procedures for houses by using ecofriendly building materials. This is achieved through the convergence of four fundamental objectives. The main objective is to conserve natural resources and use energy wisely. This can result in balancing and reducing costs for constructing a new home. Ecofriendly buildings give buyers assurance that the home is healthier and more energy- and resource-efficient. The purpose of this course is to educate the people about the environment pollution and how it can be prevented by using natural materials for construction. This process is practiced based on certain guidelines first developed in 2000 by a public private partnership among builders, green building experts, and local government staff in Alameda County. These guidelines were further updated to expand its applicability throughout California during 2005 to 2007. Later on this was further updated by Built it Green by the year 2009. This course material is based on Green Building Guidelines by Build It Green 2009 Edition.
